Waverly Hardscape

Waverly Hardscape was a project in which the owners wanted to update the front of the house.  The driveway and walkway received an update making the home fresh. This upgrade also gave the house a modern and brighter look.

Pavers

Waverly Hardscape project used pavers to achieve that colorful and even look of the driveway and walkway.

But what are pavers? Pavers are paving stones, tile, brick or brick-like pieces of concrete commonly used as exterior flooring. Pavers can be split into two main types: manufactured and natural pavers.

The first type of manufactured paver is concrete. These are generally durable, weather proof and versatile.

In a factory, concrete pavers are made by pouring a mixture of concrete and some type of coloring agent into a mold of some shape and allowing to set.

The second type of manufactured stone is brick. Known for its classic look, brick is extremely strong, durable and will last a long time.

Pavers typically come in one of four materials: clay, stone, brick or concrete.

There are also several natural stone pavers. Cobblestone gives an old-world feel because it’s what streets were made of at one point.

Usually made from recycled tires, rubber pavers give a completely different feel to a patio or walkway. Not only are they non-slip, but they also need little to no maintenance.

Bluestone is also a natural stone that’s a mixture of sand and other particles. It has a bluish gray hue that gives it its name.

Cut from a stone quarry, flagstone pavers are durable, safe and will stay cool because they don’t absorb heat. This is perfect for a yard that’s in direct sunlight.

Travertine pavers are usually more textured and filled with little holes or grooves. It’s also very durable.

One of the best things about any type of paver is that they come in a lot of different colors, textures, shapes and sizes. This means that the design possibilities are endless. The versatility is what has caused the sharp rise in demand for custom paver installations.

In the Weverly Hardscape design the homeowners didn’t want to have the same design on the driveway and on the walkway.

The driveway design is a standard Stretcher Bond and in the walkway the homeowners use a Diamond design.

By using the same kind of pavers with the same colors the different designs didn’t look out of cohesion.  Instead, the whole design come together very nicely.
